What is the difference between water fasting and juice cleansing?

Water fasting is a type of fast where one does not consume anything besides water. Most water fasts lasting for several days are highly recommended with medical supervision.   Reasons why people try water fasting varies between religions reasons, to lose weight, for detoxing, for medical procedure preparation and health benefits. Several studies link water fasting with some impressive health benefits including a lower risk of cancers, heart disease and diabetes.

The loss of appetite and fasting are natural to all animals, including humans, in response to disease and stress. If you observe animals in the wild, or even your own house pets, you will notice that when they are injured or diseased they will often retire to a quiet and comfortable place, drink water and stop the intake of all food. The loss of appetite in disease is also present in humans. But the idea of complete abstinence from food for most people in our culture is such a frightening notion that they will continue to eat even when all their natural instincts are telling them to stop. However, it is important to understand that when less energy is required for eating, and digesting and procuring food, more energy is available for healing and repair.

Juice cleansing is a diet in which a person consumes only fruit and vegetable juices while abstaining from solid food consumption. It is used for detoxification, an alternative medicine treatment, and is often part of detox diets. The diet can typically last for two to seven days and involve a number of fruits and vegetables and even spices. Consuming fruit and vegetable juices is known to increase nutrient consumption, hydrate the body and colon and may aid in losing weight.

What type of juice is use during the retreat?

We use a variety of blends in our juices throughout the day to satisfy taste and nutrient content. Our juice is 100% organic and pressed fresh daily using a variety of kale, spinach, parsley, celery, cucumber, lemon and sweetened with carrot or green apple.

What type of water is used during the retreat?

We only use distilled water since it is the most pure and safest water for water fasting and juice cleansing.

Do I have to submit my blood work to attend the retreat?

We require blood analysis prior to attending for those guests interested in our water fasting program. Blood analysis is not necessary for juice cleansing. The blood work you submit will be a helpful tool when discussing your specific health concerns with the doctor during your daily on-on-one meetings.

Is a deposit required to secure my space at the retreat?

Yes, a non-refundable 50% deposit is required to hold the room of your choice. The remainder is due 30 days prior to the retreat.

May I bring my child or small pet?

Small dogs under 40 lbs are allowed to stay in our Villas but only service animals are allowed on property. Mothers and infants may stay at our Villas but due to our quiet policy infants and children under the age of 18 years are not permitted on property.

What is colon hydrotherapy?

Colon hydrotherapy is not a cure, but can be a valuable means of “maintenance” for a wide variety of different health challenges. A toxic bowel is the source of many health problems. By cleansing the old, toxic mucus lining of the bowel, one can feel better. In addition, the bowel is open to a more efficient means of waste elimination and nutrient absorption, both of which can be helpful to any healing process.

The toxins in the fecal matter are absorbed by the colon wall and re-circulate through the blood stream; this process is called ‘autointoxication’. As these toxins circulate the body, the lymphatic, circulatory systems, liver, lungs and kidneys become overburdened and when these systems are unable to cope with this toxic overload your body becomes at risk for serious health problems.
